I’m getting ready to move to a new little house in a month with my husband and two dogs. I’m excited. The house is an older one with it’s own little quirks that will be fun to tackle.
It’s a project house. One that lends itself to figuring out shoestring ways to make the space work, be attractive, and that is livable for two spoiled dogs, provides a space for me to work remotely for my job, and that won’t drive my husband crazy. It’s also a rental — meaning we can’t change anything except our own belongings.
There is something about our new place that has inspired me. It’s a blank slate. With tile floors, plaster walls, and nothing particularly striking — it’s best feature is it’s size and the light that makes it feel like it has possibility. From the simple front porch to the tiny bathroom to the big back yard with citrus trees, the house is one I’m excited to shape into a home through sewing projects, thrift store finds, IKEA, and a lot of problem solving.
I thought it would be nice to begin documenting my plans, projects, and findings as the world at 4242 (an address a friend of mine swears may provide the secrets to the universe … or just lottery picks) unfolds.
